Nylon floss

1. Get the Right Amount of FlossTake about 45 cm of dental floss. This length allows you to use a clean section for each tooth.
2. Wrap the ends of the floss around your middle fingers, leaving about 2.5-5 cm of floss between your hands. Use your thumb and index fingers to guide the floss.
3. Hold the floss tightly between your fingers and gently slide it between your teeth. Be careful not to snap or force the floss, as this can damage your gums.
4. Once the floss is between your teeth, curve it into a “C” shape around the side of each tooth.Gently slide the floss up and down along the sides of the tooth. Be sure to reach just below the gum line but don’t force it or injure your gums.
5. After cleaning between one pair of teeth, unwind a new section of floss from one hand, and use the clean section to floss between the next two teeth.
6. Continue this process for each tooth, making sure you clean both sides of each tooth thoroughly.
7. After flossing, discard the used floss. Don’t flush it down the toilet as it can clog pipes.
8. After flossing, rinse your mouth with water or mouthwash to remove any loosened plaque or food particles.
9. Flossing should be done before brushing to remove debris from between the teeth, allowing your toothbrush to clean the surface more effectively.

Flossing once a day is recommended for optimal oral hygiene, typically before bedtime.
